We cannot do it alone. Please help. Please, adopt a dog or volunteer your time or make a donation! 250 pesos ($25 US) will pay for a spay or neuter operation. By curtailing the birth of unwanted kittens and puppies you will prevent the needless deaths of our furry friends by cars, abuse, neglect and disease.

Baja Dogs Helpline of LaPaz is a registered Mexican charity #RFC BDH060927DB6.

If you live in the La Paz area there are many other ways to help!

We can use donations of any kind with respect to the care and feeding of dogs, (except for blankets, thanks for all those!). We need:
  • Dog food
  • Flea collars
  • Any type of Portable Kennels
  • Toys

You can also donate your time at our center. We need people to help care for the dogs. If you can donate your time, please call 612 124 8433 between 4pm to 8pm Monday to Friday and Saturday morning from 9:00 am to noon. Putting a smile on their face will put a smile on yours!

Baja Dogs is entering their 2nd year. Please help us continue to help those without a voice! Volunteering as little as 4 hours a month will make an incredible difference. We just can`t do it alone.

1. VOLUNTEER COODINATOR   Must be a people person and organized!

A volunteer coordinator will help place new volunteers in a position they will enjoy. We have 3 types of volunteers; people currently volunteering at the refugio, other people that have asked to volunteer but have not been placed and thirdly new recruits. Part of your job will be volunteer recognition.

2. PUBLICITY  Must have writing skills (it is possible to just do the english or spanish portion and we will look for your alternate)

A person is needed to collect photos and write ups from Maggie or myself and insert them in all local newspapers; spanish and english. This person should also have writing skills and submit articles on Baja Dogs to these publications.

3. ADOPTIONS  Must have a car and speak spanish fluently

We need someone that can check potential homes for pets by doing a drive by. You will then follow this up with a phone call every month for 3 months or until the dog is able to be spayed. We need confirmation that the dog has been spayed and is in a good home.

4. TRANSPORT  Not necessary to live in Baja  English is necessary

We need a person to search for potential foster homes in Canada and the US.  You will receive emails and leads and will need to correspond with the writers. Also email rescue groups etc.

5. DONATIONS - IN KIND AND FINANCIAL

We need someone that can collect names from the donation book in the refugio and  thank these people with a letter or something more elaborate

6. FUNDRAISING  4 people needed to help out   English or Spanish

a) We need someone to distribute donation cans to 4 central locations and then collect full (hopefully)cans once a month. At these same locations people are able to drop off supplies etc for us, so you may be called to pick up items on an on call basis.

                            Snowbird is fine!
b) A person is needed to sell and distribute t shirts to people going north for resale. This person will need to take inventory and order more as needed.

                           Snowbird is fine!
c) A person to help distribute CCC cards to snowbirds. We will receive a donation once a year based on the cards used.

                            Snowbird is fine!
d) A high energy person is needed to plan and implement 2 big fundraisers a year. You will have help but the initiative is yours to take

7. EDUCATION   part 1 will suit an artistic student; must speak fluent spanish

a) A person is needed to help organize and assist in producing and ongoing tv segment.  This will be an educational show informing children and adults how to treat and care for their pets

part 2 will suit a retired teacher
b) this person will arrange with SEP to go in and educate the teachers using the WSPA information so that they can then instruct their students in care and treatment of their pets. Emphasis will be on spay and neuter and health.
